We were the negative side of the grand final motioned 'Democracy has failed'. During the debate, Isabella destroyed the affirmative side's team line by stating that they misinterpreted the motion by not fulfilling their burden of proof to show how democracy has completely failed in every state. Our second speaker Maggie shattered their whole argument by demonstrating the fact that their premises were based on flawed assumptions and definitions. Maggie further pointed out that the opponents' whole arguments should be based on the United Nations' definitions instead of random sources. At last, our third speaker concluded her case by once again demonstrating the fact that the affirmative side did not use the right definitions and their premises of their argument were based on a shallow and weak team line. She further illustrated the validity of her argument by relating the issues of the City University quitting the Hong Kong Federation of Students to the importance and success of democracy.
