The Water Metal Check

The School authorized WELLAB Ltd. (member of The Hong Kong Laboratory Accreditation Scheme [HOKLAS] under Hong Kong Accreditation Service) to conduct water metal check in campus for four types of metal content – lead, cadmium, chromium and nickel. Water samples were taken from all water dispensers and water outlets used for cooking. The test result which came out on 10th September showed all samples met the safety standard.

Ho Fung College Information Day for P.6 Students

First Session (2 Hours): Around 1,000 parents and students who applied online took part.

Second Session (1 Hour): Around 300 parents and students visited the School through arrangement by Tsuen Wan District Parent Teacher Association Federation.

Visit from parents of Tsuen Wan and Kwai Tsing Districts

3 primary schools in Tsuen Wan and Kwai Tsing District - Kwai Ming Wu Memorial School of The Precious Blood, Si Yuan School of the Precious Blood and Salesian Yip Hon Primary School, took part. Apart from visiting, primary school students were also arranged to sit in on   classes.

Mainland Exchange Programme for Junior Secondary and Upper Primary Students 2016 – S.2 Students

Location: Guangzhou, Guangdong

Theme: A Trip of Economic Development in Guangzhou and Pearl River Delta

Objective: To enable and stimulate students’ ability to integrate textbook knowledge with first-hand experience of exchanging and observing; thus, to consolidate learning and construct new intellect through comparing, verifying, analyzing, and reflecting.

All teachers and students took delight in participating in this lively event.

Parents’ Day

 

Report cards were delivered on the occasion. Parents could better understand the students’ performance at school through conversation with the class teachers. Parents could also talk to the school social worker or teachers from the School Discipline Section and the Student Counselling Section by appointment. In addition, statistics of different forms and subjects were shown at the School Hall for parents’ perusal.

 

Furthermore, a seminar on S3 Students’ elective selection was held, briefing the participants on the NSS curriculum, the School’s S. 4 curriculum structure for (2016/17), individual electives, the learning requirements of individual subjects, the subject selection procedures and arrangement, etc.

With activities such as visiting hydroponics organic farm and “Sha Tin Community Green Station” Pak Shek Environmental Centre, as well as having all-you-can-eat barbeque at Tai Mei Tuk.

Australia Ten-day English Study Tour

Guided with 3 English teachers, 30 students went on an English-learning trip in Brisbane, Australia, experiencing local life and understanding local culture. Students were also to broaden their horizons and enhance their English communication skills.

Taiwan Four-day Further Education and Liberal Studies Study Tour

Career Guidance Section and Liberal Studies Department co-organized a study tour to Taipei, Taiwan, with 3 teachers and 27 students. The visits to local universities and environmental facilities enhanced students’ understanding towards further education and environmental policies in Taiwan.

Hong Kong Odyssey of the Mind Programme (OMP) 2016

OMP was co-organized by The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups and the Education Bureau. The School won 3 awards in Long-term Problem #2 <滿佈魚團>, namely the overall championship of Division II, the best style and the most creative awards. The School also represented Hong Kong to attend the World Finals in the United States held between 23rd and 30th May.

It was held at the School Hall. Professor Chi-ho To, Head of School of Optometry of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, officiated at the ceremony.

Sik Sik Yuen Joint School Teacher Delegation on Study Tour in Japan

The Principal and 7 teachers went on a study tour in Tokyo and Nagano Prefecture, Japan. Other than developing teachers’ professional skills, the delegation observed and studied “Collaborative Learning”, a new teaching and learning method used in local schools.

The School represented Hong Kong to participate in the annual OMP World Finals held in the United States and finished as the first runner-up.

Release of DSE results

157 students of the School took part in the fifth HKDSE this year.

139 or 88.5% of them met the ‘3322’ requirement for university admission.

153 or 97.5% of them attained level 2 or above in five subjects (including Chinese Language and English Language).

The results of the best performing students with two or more subjects attaining 5** or 5* are as follows:
