On April 24, 2026, our S5 History students visited the Blue House in Wan Chai, one of the few remaining examples of balcony-type tong lau (tenement buildings) in Hong Kong.
Standing before this Grade I historic building, they caught a rare glimpse into the daily lives of old Hong Kong. The experience was more than just a lesson in architecture; it sparked newfound curiosity and respect for their roots. By seeing these tong lau firsthand, students realized that heritage conservation isn’t just about old bricks—it’s about keeping our stories and cultural identity alive for the future.
