Hong Kong St. John Ambulance is dedicated to promoting and encouraging all works of humanity and charity for the relief of distress, suffering, sickness and danger without any distinction as to race, class or creed. The principle and spirit of St. John's mission in Hong Kong is encompassed in its motto: "For the Service of Mankind".
We have meetings every Thursday. Foot-drill practice is an important element of our training because we all have to learn to be well-disciplined. On top of this, we receive training in first-aid so that we are equipped with the skills to help the injured people. Then, there is ‘game’ time. We play different games that require us to communicate with our teammates and use our problem-solving skills. All these help us understand the importance of teamwork and a positive team spirit.
The training is tough, but we enjoy it. Above all else, we learn that when we work together, we can overcome any kind of difficulty. It is the sense of achievement that impresses us.
